SUMMER Meals-to-You Frequently Asked Questions

Is Meals-to-You available at my school?

Meals-to-You is working with school districts to identify potential participants for the Summer 2020 MtY program year.

How do I know if my family is eligible?

If your family is eligible to get Meals-to-You boxes delivered this summer, your school district will reach out to you with more information and instructions for signing up. If your family is eligible, then any child ages 1-18 living in your household this summer can receive a box of meals each week (though boxes will include food items typically appropriate for those 2 and older).

How do I sign up?

Your school district will contact you to sign up to get Meals-to-You boxes for your family this summer. We encourage you to use the online link to sign up, and you can do so on the computer or on your phone.

Who will deliver the boxes?

We have the ability to deliver to your home/a street address with UPS or to a P.O. Box with the U.S. Postal Service, whichever is best for you.

When will the first box be delivered?

The delivery dates for the 2020 Summer will be determined before the Spring semester wraps up so that all of our participants will be able to plan accordingly.

How long will the program be?

Depending on which school district your children attend, the number of weeks you will get Meals-to-You boxes delivered will vary. Below are the weeks the program will cover for each school district.

My household receives SNAP benefits, can I still get a Meals-to-You Box?

Yes! You can still get Meals-to-You boxes delivered this summer if you are receiving SNAP or any other form of assistance. Plus, choosing to get Meals-to-You boxes this summer will not affect your eligibility for other assistance programs.

What if I’m not home when my box gets delivered?

Try coordinating with a family member or neighbor to pick up the box for you. Remember, these foods are shelf-stable, so they’ll still be good to eat when you get home!

Is it okay if the boxes sit outside for a few hours if I’m not home when the box is delivered?

All foods in the Meals-to-You box are shelf-stable, which means you don’t have to worry about the foods expiring anytime soon. The boxes will be packaged securely, so there shouldn’t be any problems with ants or other tiny pests getting into them. Additionally, you don’t need to worry about getting foods refrigerated immediately. Some foods you’ll want to refrigerate once you open them, but instructions for properly storing the food will be provided on the packaging of the foods.
